On Saturday, the Lyric theatre will come together for a trio of very special causes.

Saskatchewan’s own Codie Prevost will take the stage for the event. Initially targeted as a fundraiser for the Lyric’s own Living Legacy project, Prevost says two other recipients for funds have been added in the last several days.

“There’s a couple young girls in the Swift Current area who are facing some medical challenges right now, he said. “I’ve talked to the committee and they’ve decided to give five dollars from each ticket sale back to these young girls.

“(The idea) just came up in the last couple days, there’s a young gal named Amisha and another named Bella. The five dollars from each ticket sale will help the family with travelling costs and help out in that situation”

Prevost has been nominated for several Canadian Country Music Awards and who has won several Saskatchewan Country Music Awards.

“There’s many different reasons to support this event, and it’s just gonna be an amazing fundraiser, we can’t wait to be there,” he said.

“I've never preformed a full concert at the Lyric Theatre, I’ve been in the venue though, and it’s just an incredible place. It’s a treat to get to play theatres,” he said. “It’s a (beautiful) venue, and the committee there does an awesome job for events.”

Denise Wall, President of the Lyric Theatre, says the Lyric Board is excited for the opportunity to help a family in need and raise their needed funds as well.

“The two young ladies are struggling with illnesses, so to help their family out we’re going to donate (that money),” she said. “Most of the events we do at the Lyric are to raise money for our continuing effort to renovate the Theatre, so in this event the proceeds will go to the Living Legacy Campaign and the Capital Campaign as well.”

The show begins at 7:30 on Saturday at the Lyric Theatre.
