The Swift Current Indians have opened up the WMBL Championship series with an 8-1 win.

The Tribe rode a strong pitching performance from Ryan Flanigan while Joe Carnahan provided all the offense they would need with a 4th inning three-run homer to centerfield as the Indians took game one of the championship series.

Flanigan tossed a complete game four-hitter striking out seven along the way.  His only blemish was a solo home run allowed in the 9th inning.  Before the home run, the closest any Bull got to home plate was 2nd base.

Besides Carnahan's home run, Cole Armstrong chipped in with two RBI's including a run scoring double.

The Indians were quick to point out after the game that the end result will not be indicative of how the games will be played the rest of the way.

The Indians send Brandon Rupp to the mound tonight for game two.  7:05pm at Mitchell Field.
