The parade was rained on, but this small town persevered through the precipitation, and came together to for a great celebration. The 100th anniversary of Kyle Saskatchewan took place over the weekend, and the three day event had something for everyone.

Their 47th annual CCA rodeo was something of a main event, running both Saturday and Sunday. The weather made for a slick arena, which caused a few horses to slip, which was most evident in the barrel racing. The rodeo was still an incredible success, and to say the grandstands were full would be an understatement. The stock provided by the Prairie Rodeo Company proved to be very entertaining.

Although the rodeo seemed to be the central event, it certainly did not steal the show. The slo-pitch tournament, beach volleyball tournament, and street hockey attracted athletes of all ages. The weather on Saturday had little effect on the recreation, as both tournaments continued on through some rather heavy rain.

Beyond the fun of sport, there was also plenty of celebration of the deep roots in Kyle. A history walk was organized downtown, featuring locations and buildings that are significant to the town’s evolution. The Kyle museum's exhibits were very popular, including an impressive collection of antique farm equipment, a schoolhouse, an infirmary, war memorabilia and much more. The rink was also full of images of graduates, sports teams, as well as artifacts considered a little more personal to those in the town. It was an impressive foresight to have three bouncy castles which kept the kids entertained while the adults reminisced.
