Connor Rieger had two goals and an assist and Jace Egland pitched in with three helpers as the Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires staved off elimination with a 5-2 win over the Prince Albert Mintos in game three of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday at Innovationplex.

Rieger opened the scoring on the power play 6:20 into the first period and Kayd Ruedig made it 2-0 for Swift Current at the 11:20 mark. Van Taylor put Prince Albert on the board with a power play marker at 13:22 of the opening frame before Tristan Mitchell-McElhone restored the two-goal lead for the Legionnaires on the man advantage 3:25 into the second period. Rieger scored his second of the game with 3:03 left in the second to make it 4-1 for Swift Current before Kale Margolis cut the Mintos' deficit to 4-2 with a power play goal at the 18:18 mark of the middle frame. Wesley Olson wrapped up the scoring with 6:13 left in regulation.

Griffin Darby added two assists and Berney Weston made 51 saves as the Mintos outshot Swift Current 53-34.

The Legionnaires trail the best-of-five series 2-1 and head to Prince Albert for game four on Thursday with a chance to force a fifth and deciding game of the series on Sunday in Swift Current.
