The Swift Current Agricultural and Exhibition Association’s Step into Spring Tradeshow will be taking over the Stockade this weekend, featuring a brand-new twist.

Events Coordinator for the Ag & Ex, Megan Muri, explained that for the show’s 41st year in the city, a Sip and Shop will be added to the annual event.

“On Friday, the entire show is 19 plus,” she elaborated. “We're calling it the Sip and Shop. You can have your sample, or your beverage, and walk through the trade show and look at all the other vendors.

“On Saturday, the alcohol distributors will still be here, but it will just be limited to a restricted area in the back for 19 plus.”

The Sip and Shop will feature ten different breweries, wineries, and distilleries from across the province.

Individuals will have access to samples for a small fee as well as be able to purchase and enjoy beverages while they shop.

Muri added that the new addition came about after looking at ways to draw more people to the event.

“We were just looking for new ways to bring people to the trade show, and we've heard of some other alcohol and food-based trade shows,” she explained. “So, we thought we would try on a smaller scale, just incorporated into our regular spring trade show to add something new and exciting to it,”

The Sip and Shop will be available from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.

All ages are welcome to attend the tradeshow on Saturday from 10:00 a.m., until 5:00 p.m.

Admission cost is six dollars, and ten and under are free.
