Swift Current's Country Music Radio is debuting a new feature today called Made in Saskatchewan.

Made in Saskatchewan will showcase local Saskatchewan country artists.

The program will air four times a day and will showcase songs from the local artists from Monday to Friday on both CKSW and CJSN.

Kathy Jennings, on air for Country Music Radio, said they wanted to start this program to showcase the talented artists from around the southwest.

"We have so much great talent here in Swift Current and around the southwest," she said. "We thought a great way of sharing it and showcasing it, is by having this new program available. It's been a year in the making, we've been talking about it and putting things into place with Golden West Radio in Swift Current, and now we are going live with it."

Jennings added that so far they have about 12 to 15 artists that have shared a couple of songs each.

Justine Sletten is a country artist from Hazlet and is one of the artists featured.

She said that she is excited to be apart of the program.

"I'm always looking for radio play, so it's just awesome to get the exposure," the 16-year-old said. "It's nice to get played on a local radio station because more people will recognize your name. I think that it's cool that I get to be one of the first people to represent the program, so I'm excited to be apart of this."

Sletten added she has been trying to get songs played on CKSW for a while, so to have some of her songs featured is a dream come true.
