Late last night, the Saskatchewan Health Authority issued yet another advisory for several businesses in Swift Current after confirming that an individual made several stops and has now tested positive for COVID-19.

They say that while this individual did sanitize their hand prior to entering the stores in question, they were not wearing a mask and could, therefore, pass along the virus through air droplets.

The businesses in question are from a period on July 14th:

  • Home Hardware, 11:00 a.m. - Noon.
  • Dollarama (Swift Current Mall), 3:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
  • Staples, 3:20 p.m. - 4:10 p.m.
  • Canadian Tire, 4:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Anyone who attended these businesses during this day and time frame should be monitoring for symptoms and, should they develop, immediately self-isolate and contact HealthLine 811.

The SHA reports that all affected businesses have been complying with guidelines to minimize transmission and they are reminding the public to play their part by continuing to take precautions to protect themselves and others in the community.

This includes 2-metre separation at all times, one-way aisle travel in stores, frequent hand washing and sanitizing, and self-isolating if feeling symptomatic.

The SHA issues a public health alert as a precaution when we are not able to clearly identify all possible close contacts during a period when there was a risk of transmission of the virus. In general, businesses in the province have been compliant with public health measures; however, we know that COVID-19 is easily transmitted and wants to ensure residents are aware if they have been at the businesses during the listed times.

It is also important to adhere to public health orders and municipal government guidelines, including limiting your social circles, travel restrictions and not attending large gatherings.
