Students from Strathcona High School will be taking to the stage at the Living Sky Casino Events Center tonight with their production of "New Blood".

The production has been arranged by the Swift Current Truth and Reconciliation Committee and deals with the topic of residential schools as Curriculum Coordinator for the Chinook School Division, Curtis Biem explains.

"The topic is directly about residential schools so that was behind the truth and reconciliation process. So when we have something that meets those needs we found it was a really good opportunity."

The performance takes to the stage tonight with doors opening at 6 pm and the performance at 6:30 pm. This is a family-friendly event and admission is free.

Biem discusses the importance of bringing this production to the city.

"It is a production performed by young people and so having that connection to the schools is just a great way to bring reconciliation to the people who are really going to be going through that reconciliation process in the future."

Along with tonight's public performance, local grade 7 and 8  students will also be viewing the performance tomorrow.
