The province's death toll rose to 11 in the latest COVID-19 update from the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

The latest resident who has died after testing positive for COVID-19 was a resident of the North region who was in their 70s.

Saskatchewan has now seen five deaths in the month of May, including four in the last week.

The update also announced one new confirmed case from a Regina resident, along with two more recoveries. One of the recoveries was in the South region, leaving just one active case remaining.

That led to a decrease of two active cases overall in the province, putting the current total at 53.

There have now been 646 reported cases and 582 total recoveries from the virus.

An additional person is in hospital today as well, with the total number of hospitalizations at four as of Sunday afternoon. One person is in the ICU in Saskatoon with the other trio receiving inpatient care - two in Saskatoon and one in Regina.

Another 710 tests were performed since yesterday as well, spelling a total of 47,824 overall.
