After starting the season on an eight-game road trip, the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires will finally play their first home game when they welcome the Saskatoon Contacts this weekend.

The Legionnaires went 5-3-0 on the road swing and are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors on Wednesday night.

The games are at 7:45pm on Saturday and 2:00pm on Sunday, both at Innovationplex.

Meanwhile, the Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats host the Prince Albert Bears at 7:45pm on Saturday and 1:15pm on Sunday at S3 Arenas, and the Southwest Impact will play the first road game of their inaugural season when they face the Regina Junior Rebels in the Queen City on Saturday.

Local AA hockey has the Southwest Sports Excellence U18 Broncos and the SWT U13 Broncos welcoming the Prairie Storm on Saturday at S3 Arenas, the Full Line Ag U18 Wildcats visit the Northeast Aces and Warman Wildcats, and the Graphic Edge U15 Wildcats have two home games against the Southeast Gold Wings.

World Series kicks off tonight

The 2023 World Series starts tonight in Arlington, Texas, with the host Rangers taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks are making their first appearance in the Fall Classic since they won their first and only title in 2001, while the Rangers are back for the first time since 2011.

Game two is on Saturday with games three, four and five, if necessary, in Phoenix next week.

CFL season wraps up without Riders

The final week of the CFL's regular season begins tonight with the Calgary Stampeders hosting the West Division-leading Winnipeg Blue Bombers, while the Montreal Alouettes host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a preview of the East Semi-final and the Toronto Argonauts will head to the Nation's Capital to face the eliminated Ottawa Redblacks.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are on a bye week, having wrapped up the season 6-12 and out of the playoff picture for a second-straight season.
