A lively event with music, a market, and a chance to mingle will be coming up in the Town of Gull Lake next week to kick off their summer market in conjunction with the summer solstice.

The Summer Solstice Street Party is set for the evening of Friday, June 21 on Proton Avenue beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Lindsay Alliban, Gull Lake economic officer, is looking forward to the event and notes that if the area is still under construction, there will be signs pointing visitors toward the event.

"We're doing a Friday night market to start everything off for the season," said Alliban. "We hold markets all summer and have for the last five or six years and they take place on Wednesdays, and we do two a month."

The event will include the summer market, activities for all ages, a corn hole tournament, beer gardens, and a steak supper, with proceeds from the steak supper will going towards the Elks Hall in Gull Lake.

She notes that the event is sponsored by RBC, who donated funds to help repair the Elks Hall and will be helping out at the Summer Solstice Street Party.

"The supper and party will go later into the night," concluded Alliban. "We hope people can make it out."
