An important position with the Swift Current Library has just been filled, bringing new hours and programming.

The search is over for a new public services manager, as a Saskatoon resident has held the post for just over a month now. Olivia Brotzell is the new public services manager for the Swift Current Library and Chinook regional Library.

“I grew up just outside of Saskatoon on an acreage, but I have lived a bit all over,” explained Brotzell. “I am a full-fledged librarian, which means I have an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island... I have a master's in library and information science degree as well, from the University of Western Ontario in London.”

Brotzell hopes to breathe life into the Swift Current Library, even hinting at extra hours of its operation, along with a new club, about which more details will be provided soon.

“I'm settling in, and I'm loving it,” expressed Brotzell. “The branch staff are kind, knowledgeable and passionate, and patrons have been really welcome. I learned a lot this past month, but between the staff and patrons, they've all made it easy. I've been really fortunate there.”
