Despite the continuing and hope inducing success of flattening the coronavirus curve and the recent talk of beginning to re-open the economy by allowing more businesses to resume, the surest sign in Saskatchewan that we still have a long way to go before getting back to normal is that sports events keep on being postponed.

The latest came late last week as the Ted Knight Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame announced that it was delaying this year's induction dinner that had been originally scheduled to take place in Yorkton on July 24, 2020.

In a Thursday press-release, they said that the factors which ultimately led to the decision were not simply concerns regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding the public health, but also concerns about the host committee's ability to operate in terms of ticket sales, sponsorship acquisition and the capacity to put on a first-class event.

Instead, the 2020 class of inductees, as well as the host community of Yorkton, will be carried over to the 2021 event, the date of which has yet to be announced.
