In the January 7 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 334 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 334 new cases there are 15 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 24 in the Far North East zone, 11 in the North West zone, 65 in the North Central zone, 14 in the North East zone, 83 in the Saskatoon zone, 4 in the Central West zone, 6 in the Central East zone, and 49 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 new case in t he South West zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 33 in the South East zone.

Six previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 to the Far North East zone, 4 to the North West zone, and 1 to the North Central zone.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 17,138, of which 2,947 are considered active.

There are currently 14 active cases in the South West zone. 

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 254 (20.9 new cases for 100,000 population).

Three Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One new death was recorded in the 70-79 age group in the Regina zone, and 2 new deaths were recorded in the 80+ age group in the North Central and Regina zones.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 177.

There are 278 new recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to  14,014.

There are 176 people in hospital. One hundred and forty-seven people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North Central zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 8 in the North West zone, 31 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 39 in the Saskatoon zone, 7 in the Central East zone, and 45 in the Regina zone.

There are currently 2 people receiving inpatient care in the South Central zone, and 10 in the South East zone.

There are 29 people in intensive care - 2 in the North West zone, 5 in the North Central zone, 9 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 12 in the Regina zone.

To date, there have been 442,063 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 2,548 tests processed.

As of January 7, a total of 4,832 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Saskatchewan. This includes 2,069 Pfizer doses in the Regina pilot program, and 233 second doses, now being administered: 2,407 Pfizer does in Saskatoon, and 123 Moderna doses in the Far North West zone.

Immunizations for eligible health care staff, as well as long term and personal care home residents began this morning in Prince Albert. Prince Alberta has now received 3,900 Pfizer doses, which will all be used as first doses.

An additional 100 Moderna doses have been allocated to Saskatchewan, increasing the February 1 delivery to 5,400 doses, February allocations for the Pfizer vaccine have been confirmed at 11,700 arriving each week.

The Weekly Monitoring Report for Children and Youth, aged  0-19 years has been released for the week of December 28, 2020 - January 3, 2021.

There are currently 572 active cases in children and youth in the province. Thirteen of those cases have location/residence information unavailable.

There are 39 active cases in the Far North West zone,6 in the Far North Central zone, 98 in the Far North East zone, 126 in the North West zone, 68 in the North Central zone, 20 in the North East zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 24 in the Central East zone, 64 in the Saskatoon zone, 61 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South West zone, 12 in the South Central zone, and 38 in the South East zone.
