In the August 27 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority, they are reporting a total of five new cases of the virus in the province.

The five new cases are three in the North West zone and two in the Saskatoon zone.

This brings the provincial total number of cases to 1,609, of which 58 are considered active.

Investigations thus far have found that 29 of the 58 active cases are in communal living settings.

In the South West there are a total of 16 active cases.

There have been seven more recoveries reported today, bringing that provincial total to 1,527.

There are three people in hospital. One person is receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon and two people are in intensive care , also in Saskatoon.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths remains at 24.

To date, 134,772 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan.

Yesterday there were 1, 254 COVID-19 tests done.
