Much of the southwest is currently being advised about severe thunderstorms, and now tornado warnings have been issued for a large area in the west central part of the province.

Areas currently under tornado warning include hundreds of square kilometres surrounding Saskatoon and Prince Albert, reaching south to the communities near Beechy and Elbow.

For residents affected by the tornado warning, it is recommended go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, nearest to the middle and away from windows. Examples of this may be rooms like a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Tents, mobile homes, trailers and vehicles are unsafe shelters, and people are advised to move into a strong, permanent building if possible. If no shelter is readily available, a depression in the ground and head protection from flying debris may suffice.
