Southwest professionals are invited to join the local Al-Anon group for their outreach luncheon, coming up next week.

The meeting will occur upstairs at the Swift Current Lions Club Hall at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

Jeannie, a member of Al-Anon in Swift Current, hopes to make community members aware of what Al-Anon is and what the group can offer.

"The purpose of the outreach is just to let the professionals know that Al-Anon could be an extra support for people who are affected by somebody else's drinking," said Jeannie.

The upcoming lunch is geared towards professionals such as counsellors, therapists, family physicians, social workers, intermediaries, or anyone else who may have clients who are living with an alcoholic.

She notes that if professionals are aware of Al-Anon, the group could be a significant tool for their clients, helping them gain insight, safely share with others, connect, and find support.

"If people don't know what Al-Anon is, it's a great way to come and see a meeting and see what is available," Jeannie added.

Local professionals can sign up for the luncheon by calling (306)774-3615 or email c2cswiftcurrent@gmail.com.
