That does it for the Swift Current Broncos at the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft in Red Deer.

In the first full offseason under the direction of Dean Brockman, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, and Gary Aubin, the Director of Player Personnel, the Broncos made 10 selections in Thursday's draft.

Swift Current drafted five forwards, four defencemen, and one goalie.

"We're excited. We emphasized on skill, and we certainly got our share of it I think," said Brockman, post-draft. "We believe in our picks, and we believe in these guys being future Broncos for sure."

Five of their 10 picks hail from the province of Manitoba. Two prospects were nabbed from both British Columbia and Alberta, with one from Saskatchewan.

"A lot of the draft is where players land, and where you feel comfortable with them taken in each round," noted Brockman. "It certainly wasn't by choice, or design, or anything like that. But, we felt comfortable with those guys being picked in the area that they were, and obviously there's connections - the five Manitoba kids all kind of know each other, and it's a great hockey province as well."

The final draft class is as follows:

1st Round (14th overall) - Mathew Ward - C - Delta Hockey Academy Bantam Prep - Richmond, BC
1st Round (21st overall) - Tyson Jugnauth - D - Central Zone Bantam AA Rockets - Richmond, BC
3rd Round (45th overall) - Reid Dyck - G - Pembina Valley Bantam AAA Hawks - Winkler, MB
3rd Round (46th overall) - Sam Court - D - Winnipeg Bantam AAA Monarchs - Winnipeg, MB
3rd Round (54th overall) - Josh Davies - F - Edge School Bantam Prep - Airdrie, AB
4th Round (67th overall) - Josh Filmon - C - Rink Hockey Academy Bantam Prep - Winnipeg, MB

7th Round (133rd overall) - Connor Hvidston - F - North East Bantam AA Wolfpack - Tisdale, SK
9th Round (177th overall) - Owen Pickering - D - Eastman Bantam AAA Selects - St. Adolphe, MB

With a pair of first-rounders to help kick-start the team's rebuild, Brockman and Aubin addressed both forward and defenceman units.

"With Ward, he's one of those types of players that makes everyone around him better," said Brockman. "He's competitive and skilled, and certainly going to score a lot of goals in our league."

"With Jugnauth, he's another very skilled defenceman, very dynamic - a guy that can make plays everywhere," Brockman noted. "That type of defenceman is sought after at the NHL level, and we feel he's a guy that is going to come in and play, and be a big part of the Broncos organization."

Looking to maximize the chance of their latest haul reporting to the southwest to don the blue and green, Brockman said that homework done by Aubin, the scouting staff, as well as himself, looks to have paid off.

"Certainly we feel comfortable with where these guys are at, and comfortable with the guys wanting to be Swift Current Broncos," Brockman explained. "If you look inside at some of our picks, Jugnauth has got some relatives that are living in Swift Current - the dad's from Eston originally."

"You go down the list, and a lot of guys have ties or connections to our scouting staff, or whatever it may be. So yeah we feel comfortable with those guys reporting, and it's the first step of many."

The Broncos head further into the offseason looking to make strides on their first season of a rebuild that saw an 11-51-4-2 record, and a last-place spot in the standings at the end of the regular season.
