Egor Sidorov had a hat trick for the second game in a row as the Saskatoon Blades completed a four-game sweep of the Red Deer Rebels with a 7-0 victory on Wednesday night.

Evan Gardner made 26 saves for the shutout as the Blades advanced to the Eastern Conference Final for the second straight season.

Matthews falls short on bid for 70 goals

Auston Matthews came up empty in his quest to become the ninth player in NHL history to score 70 goals in a season, but Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov became the fifth player to have a 100-assist season, and the second this year after Connor McDavid, as the Lightning beat the Maple Leafs 6-4.

Matthews finished with 69 goals in 81 games as the Leafs will now prepare for a first-round playoff matchup with the Boston Bruins starting on Saturday.

Coyotes win final game in Arizona

Dylan Guenther had a goal and an assist as the Arizona Coyotes closed out their 28-year stay in the desert with a 5-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers in front of a sold-out crowd at Mullett Arena on the ASU campus.

The Coyotes began after the original Winnipeg Jets franchise moved to Phoenix in 1996. Their tenure was marked with disappointing results on the ice, winning just two playoff series and missing the post-season 18 times, while dealing with ownership and arena instability. The team is expected to be sold to Utah Jazz owner Ryan Smith in a deal brokered by the NHL and relocated to Salt Lake City for next season.

Three playoff-bound Canadian teams are in action on the final night of the NHL's regular season. The Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets square off at Canada Life Centre and the Oilers visit the Colorado Avalanche, while the Calgary Flames wrap up the season against San Jose at the Saddledome.

Jays suffer ninth-inning collapse as Yankees avoid sweep

Aaron Judge hit the tie-breaking RBI single in the top of the ninth, which began with a solo homer from Giancarlo Stanton, as the New York Yankees rallied from down 4-1 to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4.

Juan Soto also hit a solo home run in the eighth inning as the Yankees snapped a three-game losing streak and avoided their first sweep of the season. Daulton Varsho had two homers for the Jays, who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

The Blue Jays travel to San Diego for a weekend set with the Padres starting on Friday.
