The Swift Current Broncos wrap up a quick two-game Alberta road swing when they visit the Calgary Hitmen tonight. 

Swift Current fell 5-3 in Lethbrigde on Wednesday night in a loss that snapped a season-high seven-game winning streak for the Broncos. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between the Broncos and Hitmen, with Calgary winning two of the games so far.

Tonight's game will be live on the Eagle 94.1 FM with Living Sky Casino Broncos Hockey starting with the pre-game show at 7:30pm and the face-off from the Saddledome at 8:00pm. The Broncos will then host the Prince George Cougars Saturday at 7:00pm from InnovationPlex.

In other WHL action tonight, Regina hosts Saskatoon, Moose Jaw welcomes Portland, Prince Albert entertains Seattle, Medicine Hat visits Brandon, Lethbridge hosts Prince George and Red Deer welcomes Edmonton.

Busy weekend for minor hockey in the southwest

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires play their only game of the weekend on Sunday in Saskatoon against the league-leading Blazers, while the Innovation Credit Union Wildcats host the Prince Albert Bears Saturday at 7:45pm and Sunday at 3:00pm from S3 Arenas.

The Full Line Ag U18 AA Wildcats host the Warman Wildcats tonight at 8:00pm and the Southeast Gold Wings tomorrow at 12:45pm, both at InnovationPlex. The Pure Chem U15 AA Broncos visit the Saskatoon Outlaws tonight and then host Weyburn on Sunday at 5:30pm. The Graphic Edge U15 Wildcats host Prince Albert for two games this weekend and the WW Smith U13 Wildcats are on a three-game road swing against Prince Albert, the Northeast Aces and the Saskatoon Comet Hurricanes.

Dueher scores first ever NHL goal for South Dakota as Flames beat Blues

Dillon Dube scored twice as the Calgary Flames beat the St. Louis Blues 4-1. Elias Lindholm and Tyler Toffoli had two assists each and Walker Dueher scored his first career goal for the Flames. The Sioux Falls product became the very first player born in South Dakota to score a goal in the NHL. Players born in 39 different US states and the District of Columbia have now scored an NHL goal. 

In other action, Cole Caufield scored twice on the power play as the Montreal Canadiens beat Nashville 4-3. The Habs honoured retired fan-favourite defenceman P-K Subban before the game. Kyle Connor got the game-winner in the third period as the Winnipeg Jets beat Buffalo 4-2, and Mark Kastelic got the winner for Ottawa in a 5-3 victory over Arizona. Also, Detroit beat Toronto 4-1 and Tampa Bay edged Vancouver 5-4.

Edmonton visits San Jose and Winnipeg travels to Pittsburgh in NHL action tonight.

Canada to face Finland in Women's U18 semis

Canada will face Finland in the semi-finals of the World Women’s Under-18 Hockey Championship. 

Finland defeated Czechia 3-2 in yesterday’s quarter-final to set up tomorrow’s matchup. Host Sweden beat Slovakia 6-1 in the other playoff game, and they will face the USA in their semi-final tomorrow. 

The gold medal game is on Sunday.

Raptors beat Hornets again for third-straight win

Pascal Siakam scored 35 points as the Toronto Raptors beat the Charlotte Hornets 124-114 in NBA action last night. Scottie Barnes added 21 points for the Raptors, who beat Charlotte for the second game in a row and are on their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Rush take on Mammoth in Denver

The Saskatchewan Rush return from a bye week to face the defending NLL champion Colorado Mammoth tonight at Ball Arena in Denver.

The Rush are 2-1 in the young season and are coming off an 11-9 win over Panther City on New Year's Eve. Saskatchewan beat Colorado 18-6 in their season opener on December 3rd at SaskTel Centre.

Their next home game is on January 28 against Las Vegas.
