A recent purchase for Swift Current's Wastewater Treatment Plant is going to cost the City significantly more than they expected.

Swift Current city council approved a near-$127,000 purchase from Saskatoon's Delco Automation to install and program new logic controllers at the facility.

Greg Parsons, the City of Swift Current's general manager of Infrastructure & Operations, said they'd only budgeted $35,000 in 2024 for the project.

"The remaining budget requirement will be reallocated from the water treatment plant project and carry over from previous years to complete years three and four," he said.

Earlier in the evening, the City agreed to buy programmable logic controllers from Delco Automation, who completed years one and two of the project, for slightly over $112,000, about $28,000 below what the City had budgeted.
