One person has been confirmed dead as a result of last night's fire. 

The home located on 14th Avenue Southeast was engulfed in flames by the time the City of Swift Current Fire Department arrived at 11:55 p.m., with the inferno billowing out of two windows and the back door.

Firefighters immediately leapt into action, knocking the fire down in minutes. After the initial fire was contained, at least one crew remained on the scene to ensure embers did not reignite.

In total, 10 personnel from the Swift Current Fire Department responded to this event with three vehicles. They were joined by RCMP members, EMS, City Light and Power, City Waterworks, and SaskEnergy.

The home was heavily damaged and with severe content damage as a result of the fire. The exact cause of this fire is still under investigation.
