The Town of Gull Lake’s first annual dodgeball tournament kicks off tonight at the Gull Lake Recreation Complex.

Emella Waiser, Administrative Assistant for the Town of Gull Lake, elaborated on what the two-day tournament, which doubles as a fundraiser, will look like.

“We'll have two pools, and we will start Friday night at about 6:00 p.m. and the games will run for a couple of hours on Friday night,” she explained. “We're having a wing and beer night at the rink Friday night as well, and then Saturday morning the games will start at about 10:00 a.m. and probably go until around 7:00 p.m.”

Beer gardens and the food booth will be open all day tomorrow.

Co-ed teams, made up of six to twelve players, were able to register for $200.

“Every single penny will go back into the rink,” Waiser added. “Our first upgrade that we are currently working on is our bathrooms in the lobby right now.”

In conjunction with the 11 teams that are registered to play in the tournament, an online auction is currently taking place to help raise money for the recreation complex.

Individuals can bid on eight different items including the Pit Boss Sportsman Series Gas Grill and Smoker, two-18 Hole Game Pass/two-18 hole passes with cart, and a Saskatchewan Roughriders Logo until May 8.
