Today marks the start of Recreation and Parks Month in Swift Current.

The goal is to encourage people to engage in recreational activities in the City, as well as getting out into Swift Current's various parks.

To mark the start of June, Mackenzie Veason, summer program coordinator for the City of Swift Current, and Brooklyn Choo Foo, families in the park coordinator for the City of Swift Current, came to the latest Swift Current city council meeting to encourage folks to enjoy the various events and programs they have prepared for this summer.

"We are thrilled to be returning for our third summer and to present to you some exciting programs, events, and other things happening this month and throughout the summer," said Veason.

Starting off with tomorrow's Picnic in the Park, which is being held in partnership with Innovation Federal Credit Union. That will begin at 1 p.m. and run till 4 p.m.

Another highlight was the Summer Kickoff Event on June 12.

"(Starting) at ACT Park as it is sponsored by the ACT Club of Swift Current," said Veason. "It's a great way to get to know our leaders and to learn more about our summer programs."

Youth Fest was next on the list, happening on June 20, followed up less than a week later on June 26 by the Kiddies Day Parade.

"Our program postcards (...) will be distributed at all of our events in June and throughout the Community,," said Veason. "We try our best to get them to as many people as possible, as they give you information on all of our programs and events."

A full ist of the events they have planned can be found on the City of Swift Current website.
