The family of Shirley Ann Uens is saddened to announce her passing on February 5, 2024 at the age of 78. Shirley passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan with her family by her side.

Shirley was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on February 5, 1946 to Richard and Bertha Wiens. She attended school at Oman and W.A. Betty in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. On February 2, 1974, Shirley married the love of her life, Thomas Millar, at the Salvation Army Church in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Later on, Shirley married James Uens on October 10, 1992, at the Alliance Church in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.

Shirley’s first job was at the Country Club Restaurant, and then after that she worked at Kay and Harold’s Restaurant. She helped out at the Healy Hotel, then worked out in Sceptre, Saskatchewan for the Morrison’s. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking, and tending to her numerous house plants. She was a member of the Salvation Army Ladies.

Shirley was survived by her sons: Rick Millar and Kevin (Cody) Forsyth; brother Charles (Sharon) Wiens; nieces: Tammy (Kevin) Haglund, Leanne (Adam) Pritchard, Berni Pleasance, and Crystal Paquin; nephew Kerry (Laurie) Ensz. Shirley was predeceased by her parents: Richard and Bertha (Gray) Wiens; husband Thomas Millar; sister Sadie Paquin; brother- in-law Arthur Paquin; and husband James Uens.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 12, 2024 from the Salvation Army Chapel with Lieutenant Bill and Lieutenant Renee Mailman officiating. The eulogist was Tammy Haglund and the Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in her life. A private family interment will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Donations on behalf of Shirley can be made to the Salvation Army Food Bank.
