Summer is officially here, and to celebrate its arrival are several festivals this weekend. Ring in the season with a variety of foods, tons of live music, and community connection at its core.

Saturday

9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Market Square is back in downtown Swift Current as of today, and the first installment of the summer features a fundraiser for The Center. First responders have been working hard to master their perfect chili recipe, and they'll face off tomorrow at the local market with a winner being crowned based on community members' votes. Enjoy live music, fresh foods, and local vendors.

10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Garnering international adoration, Windscape Kite Festival is popping up in the big field just south of Swift Current today -- just follow the sights of kites in the sky.  With talents from all over the world coming to this southwest corner of the prairies, the festival is a staple in the community for many reasons. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

It's opening day for the Country Pleasures Teahouse at Doc's Town. Grab a piece of homemade pie and tour around the historical buildings nearby.

8 p.m.

Head back to the Windscape grounds for a night of live music by several incredible bands back-to-back. Electrifying energy, artist merch, drinks and treats, and even some local vendors -- end the day on a high note at Long Days Night Music Festival.

Sunday

10 a.m.

The Swift Current Drag Racing Association is hosting races on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. from the local airport, with engines ripping up the track and food and drinks on site for onlookers to enjoy.

2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Prairie Wind & Silver Sage in Val Marie will celebrate the contributions of artists from across Saskatchewan in a new exhibition Small Works from a Big Land. The festive reception runs on Sunday at the gallery.
