Just a couple of days ago SCCHS hosted the 2024 SWAC District Meet at the Comp. track, welcoming more than 150 athletes, spectators, coaches, and family members. 

The meet on Wednesday kicked off with pole vault for the first event at 9 a.m and ran throughout the day ending with relay finals at 4 p.m. 

Athletes from Swift Current set 24 new records including All Saints athlete, Laynee Rondeau who broke records in bantam girl's hurdles, 100, 400, and 800 meter sprints along with Kyler Duclos from SCCHS who set records in intermediate boy's long jump, triple jump, 100, and 200 meter sprints.

Lyla Thiessen also set records in junior girls hurdles and pole vault while Swift Current teams were able to break records in senior boy's relay, junior girl's, intermediate boy's, and bantam girl's relay.

Additionally, Gull Lake's Brooklyn Leppa set a record along with Jace Egland from Eastend, Frontier's Kali Nelson, and Claire Lacelle from Cabri who tied a record.

SCCHS athlete Kas Gatzke secured first in senior girl's quad, London Phair placed first in senior boys quad, and Reeve Zacharias achieved first in junior boy's quad.

A few Swift Current athletes also achieved outstanding aggregated individual rankings including Rondeau, Duclos, and SCCHS' Emily McClearly received a total of 40 points.

Also noteable was the Comp.'s Callie Ebner, Olami Akinfiresoye, and Thiessen, each of whom had an aggregated ranking of 38 points and Jackson Tuplin who came out with 36 points. 

Winners of districts who are in grade nine and up will be able to advance to the SHSAA Provincial Track and Field Meet in Saskatoon on June 7 and 8.
