Hundreds of people gathered on Saturday to experience the annual Fort Walsh Wild West Trades Show.

For the people that entered the 144-year-old fort, they got to experience everything from a blacksmith, a bouncy castle for the kids, and a historical weapons skirmish where they fired off some canons.

There was also a live performance from the Maple Creek band, now based in Saskatoon, League of Wolves.

Omar Murray, the special events coordinator at Fort Walsh, explained why they like to organize this event.

"We started it has a historic trade show, and to show people Fort Walsh," Murray said. "Because not everyone gets to see a blacksmith, they don't get to see what a ferrier really does, or they don't actually see the Northwest Mounted Police drills that we do, so it really is a special event."

Murray added that the biggest draw for the people organizing it.

"It's showing people Fort Walsh; they get to have a reason for coming out here and see how important Fort Walsh really is, along with the beautiful scenery."

For the people that missed the Wild West Trades Show this year, Murray said they're going to make it bigger and better next year.
