After some railcars threw some sparks, a fire broke out near Battrum off Highway #32. 

The grass fire was contained to the railway's property but did cause some minor damages to the immediate area. 

Responding to the fire was the RM of Riverside Fire Department, led by Keaton Dowdeswell, the Fire Chief. 

The fire originated around 2:30 p.m. and was extinguished quickly by Dowdeswell and his team. 

"A big thank you to all the firefighters who helped out," said Dowdeswell. 

If the event of a fire, calling it into 911 is always the best step to take. Operators are reminded to keep a fire extinguisher with them, even with all the rainy weather in the southwest recently.
