The Swift Current Broncos have added some new talent to their coaching staff.

Announced last week, the team has hired P.E.I native Devan Praught as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.

Praught is no stranger to winning.  He's spent the past eight seasons at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame.  Beginning as a head coach of that school's U18 AA Hounds, followed by two years as head coach of the U18 AAA Argos and then the last five seasons bench bossing the U18 AAA Hounds.

It was with the Hounds where Praught shone brightest; leading that squad to a 134-35-13 record, back-to-back league championships in 2018 and 2019, the 2018 Telus Cup and the U18 AAA National Championship.

Along the way, he was named the SMAAAHL's Coach of the Year for both 2018 and 2019.

During that time, he also served as Head Coach of Team Saskatchewan at the 2019 WHL Cup, guiding that squad to their first-ever gold medal at that event.

As a player, the 33-year-old played in parts of three seasons in the QMJHL, followed by a five-year career at the USports level; four at St. Thomas University in Fredricton New Brunswick and one at the University of P.E.I.
