A Swift Current-made film is set to premiere next week in front of a hometown crowd.

Dead Prairies Productions will release Swift Nightmares 2 at Lucky Charlie's Pub & Pool on May 6.

The horror-comedy flick features three separate stories that all connect to one main story, although that wasn't the original plan when filming began in September of 2022.

"It was supposed to be one movie at the start but it was not enough footage I found," Devon Oman, the owner and operator of Dead Prairies Productions, said. "I said let's make it Swift Nightmare 2 and add two [more] stories. It gives opportunities for people with acting abilities to that show-off."

The 1:35 plot follows a TV show host that tells stories about horror movies. The three films he focuses on are Darkness Within, Game Over: Resident Evil, and a spinoff of Texas Chainsaw Massacre dubbed Winter Massacre.

"It's kind of like Tales from the Darkside or Creepshow or Tales from the Crypt, those kinds of stories," he explained. "If you watch the new home movies, kind of like Trick or Treat."

Footage for the 15th movie Oman crafted was captured in Piapot, a few places around Swift Current, and a farmyard.

The debut of the film is already sold out, with over 100 tickets purchased with proceeds headed to the Swift Current SPCA.

"The last three movies have sold out," he said. "It's cool because they all sold out presale. They weren't sold out the day of, they were all presale tickets which is a huge step for us... It's a big accomplishment for everyone involved."

Oman chose May 6 to launch Swift Nightmares 2 as it's a quiet weekend for events around Swift Current and he's excited for the evening.
