The University of Saskatchewan Huskies football team are headed back to the Vanier Cup after rolling to a 36-19 win over the St. Francis-Xavier X-Men in the Uteck Bowl on Saturday at Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Quarterback Mason Nyhus threw for 327 yards and two touchdowns and Ryker Frank ran for 134 yards and a TD as the Huskies advanced to the U Sports national football championship for a second-straight year and 11th time overall.

Former Swift Current Comp High School Colts receiver Rhett Vavra, in his second year with the Huskies, had three catches for 24 yards and ran back two kickoffs and five punts for 90 yards. Former Shaunavon Shadow and fourth-year defensive back Nixen Voll had three tackles.

The Huskies will be in search of their fourth Vanier Cup and first since 1998 next Saturday in London, Ontario, where they will play the Laval Rouge et Or, who defeated the Western Mustangs 27-20 in the Mitchell Bowl.

Saskatchewan had faced Laval at two previous Vanier Cups with the Rouge et Or coming out on top both times, 7-1 in Hamilton in 2004 and 13-8 at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon in 2006. The Huskies lost 27-21 to the Mustangs in last year's title game.
