A Swift Current musician's work will be on full display tomorrow with a song release and a concert.

Marcus Braun and his band will hit the stage at the Eastside Church of God during the evening, but first, he'll release his new single "Something In The Water," to all streaming platforms.

The 15-year music veteran said work on his newest tune began a few summers ago but wanted to wait for the perfect time to display it.

"Over the past year I've been tracking it," he explained. "I wanted to save it for the start of summer, so I held onto it until now."

A Beach Boys documentary spurred his inspiration for the country-rock song and allowed him to take a break from creating music he classified as 'serious'.

"I watching them play all these songs about summer, surfing, and having fun and I thought 'that's what I want to write,'" he said. "It's got those Beach Boys influences in there and definitely a summer vibe that should chase away any of the remaining wintertime blues."

The concert will feature Braun, his uncle Gord Braun on guitar, Swift Current fiddle player Austin Castle, Wymark's Bill Neufeld on guitar and banjo, and Keith Adams on drums.

"I wanted to do something to kind of bring in the summer and celebrate the release of the song," he said.

It begins at 8 p.m. with the doors opening for the show at 7 p.m. with free admission but donations for the band are being accepted.

"It helps me pay the band because I've been working them hard trying to get this show together," he said. "It also encourages me to keep creating."

Braun was the mastermind behind the songwriting for "Clovers" released on Dec. 30, 2023, which memorialized the Swift Current Broncos bus crash in 1986.
