Organized by a Swift Current mom and small business owner, a collection of local shops will be setting up booths with their products, in a new way for residents to support local.

The Mom Market is a collective event that spans across the country. Taylor Eaton, owner of Mamas and Mayhem, runs the division for Swift Current.

“You don't have to be a mom to come and check it out,” said Eaton. “It was founded by a mom and a small business owner, and mainly everyone that runs [a division] is a mom that owns a small business.”

The main theme that stays the same across all pop-ups, is the local aspect. There will be a variety of small shops set up this evening in the parking lot of Riverside Park.

From plants to jewelry to clothing to drinks, there’s a taste of all the goods that Swift Current has to offer, from right here in the city.

“It's needed so bad in Swift Current for support for small businesses,” Eaton added. “Just to get your name out there, especially those ones that are home-based. This gives them a time to come and pop up and meet everybody. Grab a friend, come grab a bubble tea and walk around and check out all the local vendors.”

The market runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, and anyone interested in becoming a vendor at future markets is encouraged to check out the Mom Market website to apply.
