Before school returns, Swift Current's youth will pack into the Kiwanis Sk8 Park to find out who's the sickest of them all.

The Center will host the Youth Sk8 Competition today from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with tons of free food and prizes for competitors and onlookers.

Lanna Koethler, program assistant with the Center, said they wanted to host the event to revive a once thriving competition sport in Swift Current.

"Swift Current over the years has been known to host some of the best skate competitions Canada-wide," she said.

Two age groups will be assembled for the evening, ages 12-15 and 16-18 who will be vying for the best trick title. The winner will receive a pair of Pit Viper sunglasses courtesy of Optical Image.

Pre-registration is required and must be completed by a parent or guardian. Each participant will receive a pair of Calzini socks from Froese Flooring.

Participants and the audience can also enjoy free hot dogs and drinks.

"We've got some sponsors from all over the city, it's been really well received by a lot of the businesses in town," she said.
