Residents can help the local Chinook Alternate Middle Plus School (CAMPS) program while improving their golf game at the upcoming CAMPS Golf Tournament taking place on June 1st.

Student Services Counsellor with CAMPS, Lindsay Painchaud provides some background on the program.

"CAMPS program is an alternative education setting located in Swift Current that was created for kids who have difficulty succeeding in a regular school environment. This can be due to emotional, social or behavioral challenges. The goal of our program is to provide our youth with the necessary skill sets that enable them to successfully transition back into a regular school system."

The tournament will be taking place at Saskatchewan Landing Golf Resort with a 10:00 am shot-gun start and it's $100 to enter. The entry fee includes your green fees, cart, breakfast, supper and a chance at some fantastic prizes.

Painchaud adds some additional details about the event.

"We hold this tournament every year in hopes to raise awareness for our alternative education settings in Swift Current and to provide extra financial support for field trips and to ensure continued quality of special programs."

Those interested in registering or making a donation can call the CAMPS program at 306-778-9288 or Saskatchewan Landing Golf Resort.

In addition, Painchaud would like to thank all of the sponsors on board this year for helping to make this event happen.
