Two members of the Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires picked up a couple of SMAAAHL league awards ahead of a big playoff matchup tonight. 

Head Coach Todd Hornung was named the Joe Bloski Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 25-15-4 record for 50 points, an improvement from 39 points last season. 

Berney Weston was named the league’s MVP Goaltender and a second team all-star. He backstopped the Legionnaires to a 20-7 record while recording a .909 save percentage and a goals against average of 2.86. 

The Legionnaires host the Warman Wildcats tonight and can advance to the league semi-final with a win. Face-off is at 8:00pm from InnovationPlex.

Other minor hockey playoff action tonight has the Pure Chem U15 AA Broncos hosting the Prairie Storm in game one of their best-of-three first-round series at 7:30pm from S3 Arenas. Game two will be in Balgonie on Friday night with game three, if needed, back in Swift Current on Sunday.

In provincial hockey, Swift Current will head to Weyburn for game one of the U15 A south final tonight with games two and three back home on Sunday.
