Boxers from Leader’s Sandhills Boxing Club are heading across the country for a tournament this weekend, looking to fight their way to the top.

The Sandhills Boxing Club is an inclusive group committed to strict training regimen and clean living to forge the finest fighters. The Club will be representing all of Saskatchewan in Quebec this weekend, with three boxers competing in the open tournament.

Kenneth Blohm is the head coach and president of the Sand Hills Boxing Club in Leader, as well as a parent of a competitor.

“This is an open tournament, so anybody from anywhere all over the world is welcome to join,” stated Blohm.  “We're very excited to be a part of this, not only to face off with new competitors that we haven't seen, but it's also a new adventure in a new city.”

The three fighters sent to represent Saskatchewan are Abigaelle Blohm, Alex Girardin, and Ryder Bredy. As the end of the season nears, these young athletes will look to make names for themselves on an international stage.

“This is our final tournament of the season,” said Blohm. “After this we'll take a break and get ready for next year, but right now we're just so happy to have these young competitors that have worked so hard for this opportunity. I'm very glad to be able to bring them on this this adventure.”

With the tournament beginning on Friday, success determines whether each boxer will continue to have matches. Swift Current Online will have an update on the results of the tournament next week.
