A well-known dance band that's been specializing in old-time country and Western music for 48 years is coming through the southwest this week.

The Fugitives' first show of the week is set for tonight in Cypress Hills from 7 - 10 p.m. before they head to perform at Maple Creek's Legion Hall on June 20.

On Saturday, June 21, the Fugitives will appear at the Legion in Shaunavon before their final dance the following evening in Radcliff, Alberta.

Ken Lodge, a member of the Fugitives Dance Band, encourages anyone interested of any age to attend the dances and enjoy the music, including songs from Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, and Loretta Lynn.

"We've played across Canada from coast to coast and played in Vegas five times in our career," he said. "We try to play at a low volume of good listening so if you don't want to dance, you can still enjoy the old music."

Each of the dances has an admission fee of $15 per person at the door and the option of only the dance, or the dance and supper for an extra $25.

Lodge noted that they also play waltzes, two-steps, fox trotts, and more.

Anyone interested in more information can visit the Fugitives Dance Band on Facebook.

"If people enjoy old-time music, then they'll enjoy the dance," added Lodge.
